In civilized 1930's Britain the idea that a half baked former Corporal in the defeated WWI German army, a jail bird who wrote pseudo intellectual (but nonetheless tragically powerful) drivel, ranted insanely to glassy eyed followers and strutted about in presumptuously crafted comic opera uniform, could possibly present the august British lion a mortal threat, was laughable. That the proven dilettante Winston was sounding the tocsin made the notion doubly discreditable. To have taken precipitate action such as stopping the madman at the Rhine or in distant Czechoslovakia would have been beneath a nation as wise as Britain, yes? But the madman kept his promise didn't he? ("Be patient, he is coming . . . ") And then they had to deal with it, did they ever, as incredible as it was.
I see some of the same disdain at work in our country now. " Why, its preposterous that a handful of sad sacks, consummate misfits, can present a very clear and imminent danger to our precious children, wherever we may live. That we should contemplate measures as 'icky' as bringing guns, albeit in the hands of the lawful, into our schools; well its beneath us. In doing so we would have to agree with those 'gun nuts' in their rural holes. Surely less extreme and nonsensical solutions are available. We'll extend the 'gun free zones', yes? " Well no, its beyond August 31, 1939 now; the blitzkrieg is at hand and we must meet it. Our childrens' psyches and and actual physical well being are far better served by taking a completely clear headed view of the very reality. Point defense: defense by armed force, at the very point of attack, no matter the tawdry and unforeseen nature of the enemy, is now indispensable.
Those of national influence who misguide the volcanic outrage generated by these insanely copied abominations toward their purely political goals must be confronted. Some of them have ventured to suggest that gun rights advocates see advantage in school shootings. As much as I try to painfully put myself within the mind of one who would seriously contemplate such a sociopathic absurdity, I cannot see any remotely arguable rationale for such illusion. But that they would see in these hideous nightmares a means to advance their dream of totalitarian domination of our erring nation bears serious consideration. They know gun owners reside at the heart of the real America and they are looking for a good heart shot, they are. Jack

A new use for a discredited chant
"Hands up, don't shoot!" It originated in protests in Ferguson Mo. The U.S. "Justice" Dep't (as biased as it was under possible Dem Presidential candidate Eric Holder) reflexively tried its best to hang the officer who defended himself against the homicidal "victim"; try as it would, it could not escape the conclusion that the officer had acted properly. You'd think that would put paid to the chant but no, its catchy it is. Now, apparently, its been adopted by groups expressing justified anger over the Florida school shooting. Now why would that be; is it spontaneous? Ehhh, no.
I'm thinking about other such ditties. I remember "Hey, hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?" You never heard "Hey, hey Ho Chi Minh, how many innocents have you done in?" Well, there's a reason for that. The professional far leftist infection of the multitudinous baby boomers, especially through the college campuses, was starting to yield very positive results.
Its still much active. It has spread deeply into our secondary and even our elementary educational systems. Why leftist boomers are now much venerated senior teachers and principals with decades of tenure. Why, William Ayers, who boasted of the charges against him of Vietnam era domestic terrorism "guilty as hell, free as a bird" is now a much invited education guru. When I objected to my elementary school children being exposed to the spit on Vietnam veterans anthem "Ohio", I was treated to a contempt filled lecture.
That high school students are approximately as naive as were the seminal boomers is a reasonable view. They are younger after all, though their childhoods have been far more trying. That they would be vulnerable to cynical radicals is sadly to be expected, especially in some (certainly not all)affluent suburban settings, with their foo foo ambience.
For high school students to be absolutely incensed that they have not been protected by a society fully capable of doing so is completely justified. But so much of the initially obvious (I say that because it is certain that the MSM suppresses news of any dissent) outrage is directed toward gun owners and the NRA (which defends our constitutionally affirmed rights in that regard ). That reflects the baleful influence on the kids of the leftists in our education system. The myth that the availability of guns is the problem, that myth easily defeated by the documented paucity of such abominations in our traditionally gun owning land before the "anything goes" '60's, is advanced by the left as a means to discredit one of the main pillars of resistance to the left: gun owners and their NRA and ancillary organizations. The totalitarians know that the path to dominance is blocked by the American conservative movement, of which gun rights advocates are one of the mainstays.
Those kids should be p.o.d! The decision makers have, because of their fear of "ickiness", deliberately ignored the obvious solution. The defense can be established over night. Put armed policemen or soldiers in each and every school. After awhile, reinforce them with responsible armed volunteers from the public. That's what the kids should, with an eloquence and moral authority only they may command, demand!
Oh,so many of the kids don't know that. How could they? They lack experience and senses of judgement honed by that. We'll have to stand for them. Jack

The American "University"
What does the term ''university" reasonably encompass? Why not just call it Harvard Academy or Massachusetts State Indoctrination Center (instead of UMass) or Oberlin Soviet or California Post Secondary Reeducation Camp or something more honest than "University" for the love of truth. "University" surely means a setting in which a very extensive range of well supported views (exclusive, yes, of completely discredited and subhuman views like Naziism and Marxism, except as objects of historical study)is of necessity and intellectual integrity embraced both by faculty, students and administration. Integral to this is scrupulous tolerance by the decision and rule makers of these entities, schooled nonetheless as they were in the "revolutionary" later twentieth century and even the dawning twenty first in totalitarian contempt for concepts found to be "icky" by the elect, for the credible universe of views and conclusions in an information rich world.
Harvard, Harvard itself, a place where students used at least to assume that among their classmates were future Presidents, prophets of law and all manner of influential personalities, has made an administrative decision, apparently supported by its faculty (a formidable bunch to be sure, I mean imagine being a Professor at Harvard) to ban all sororities and fraternities, organizations which are by tradition (gasp) and definition defined by the gender of their membership and all other organizations similarly organized. One can safely predict that organizations which exclude all but certain politically correct genders and races will be excepted from this proscription in very good time. The outgoing Harvard President opined that "gender"is an arbitrary decision among individuals. Really!? I suppose the possession of male or female reproductive organs and all thatt they generate in behavior and its consequences are illusions, capable of infinite manipulation yes? Baloney! This is powerful, neo Orwellian nonsense.
Let Harvard and any private school do as it will. Let their decisions speak for them in the yet free marketplace of education in this still free country. Before 1946 and the GI Bill, prominent universities were mostly unknown to the real America( and this change of print by my contemptuous computer is none of my doing); perhaps that separation is once again appropriate? The problem arises when public schools pursue the same bigoted exclusivity.
Some schools have published statements of support for academic freedom. That's all well and good but we'll see if they have the guts to follow through! I would very much welcome criticism of my view on this from present day faculty or students. Jack

A gun owner's response
I'm a parent and I know the pain of losing a child would be of an intensity perhaps imaginable only to a parent.
Past abominations like the Florida school shooting have prompted instantaneous calls for tighter gun control from leftist politicians who seek political gain but also from people of good will who yearn for an immediate counter to this appalling phenomenom.
To the Schumers, Hillarys, Cuomos and Pelosi types, my answer as a gun owner is NO! No, we gun owners and our organizations will not tolerate being blamed for outrages we did not cause and which we could have prevented. No, we will not stand still for you saying we do not care about this depraved threat to the most innocent in our society; it would make as much sense as to say that you welcome these attacks as a way to advance your crusade against the real America (you don't do you?) No, we will not refrain from defending our Constitutionally affirmed (not gifted, affirmed mind you) right to bear arms. No, we will not allow you to codify into law the presumption that unbridled access to guns is the reason for these crimes; the reason, we know, is the cancer of moral relativism which has plagued our society since the '60's and which inspires monsters to act out their hellish fantasies. Those most responsible for the undermining of our spiritual foundation and the fatal notion that actions proscribed by societal sanctions painfully developed over centuries, bearing the signature of an infinitely higher power, somehow now do not have the most serious consequences, are the very types who orchestrate the gun ban effort. This stuff didn't happen in the '50's, which were before the '60's and in which guns were far more readily available and were not disingenuously excoriated by radicals in government.
To those of good will who believe strongly increased gun control is the quickest way to effectively combat this onslaught, may I, with greatest respect, invite you to join with us in a solution which can be enacted over night and which WILL end this scourge. Put armed guards in every school, NOW! Every community has an armed police force; every state has an armed national guard. Every community in the real America enjoys the citizenship of numbers of mature law abiding gun owners sufficient to provide enough willing armed volunteers. I know I'd come forward. Defend at the very point of attack, not on some imaginary political periphery. We acknowledge the reality of crime and international threats don't we? Then lets be real about this one. The kids know all about it, we can't shield them from the dolorous truth. Its understandable to think people who find guns in schools repugnant would have concerns but give this idea a chance, yes? Actually, well behaved guardians in the schools, in addition to providing real defense against this insane threat, might well serve as very positive role models. Blaming gun availability hasn't worked and a moral revival in this wounded nation will take a long time. Do the right thing now America! Jack

2020?
In order to relive what may have been a decisive moment in our history, I viewed some videos from 2016 election night and noted the looks and expressions of devastation on the part of those so determined to see a woman President that they supported the most vindictive, hate filled and glaringly flawed candidate of modern times Clearly her faults were, to them, virtues. It was a cruel rebuff for her but she had been merciless to those who crossed her when she was Co-President. Consider the White House Travel Office worker who had to defend himself at some little cost, personal and financial, against the frivolous and unsuccessful prosecution of him leveled at Hillary's order at government expense. And I sincerely hope that Paula Jones, Linda Tripp, Juanita Broaddrick and all other savaged at Hillary's behest took some deserved personal comfort at seeing her lifelong dream extinguished. They know especially well what misuse she would have made of a return to our White House.
She could have been elected and so, surely, can a woman free of her determination to be avenged of the real America ( a Republican like Joni Ernst maybe?); that was proven by her winning of the popular vote. True, that win is completely attributable to her predictable success in lala land NY and California (in which case the Electoral College did its job)but someone somewhat less obviously disdainful of the vast benighted majority of Americans (those "deplorables", oh my, my, my, Hill!) might have snuck in, as did Slick Willy and the deceitful Marxist. What does this say about the Dem's plans for 2020? Why they'll be right back at it.
Its certain Dems are working on the assumption, just as they "knew" Hillary would win, that President Trump will be in office for an absolute maximum of four years. Their vicious onslaught on him for the last year is an all out effort to finish him. Anything beyond a Radical Restoration in 2021 is completely beyond their ken. They fully expect the President to self destruct. Being that they are so confident we can reasonably predict that they will recklessly nominate one who floats their far leftist boat, one as politically correct and contemptuous of us all as Hillary was. The one most likely (at least until the electoral debates, when he would be unable to repress his sneers) to disingenuously portray himself as "just one of us" would be Joe Biden but the Dems will not think themselves constrained to resort to one as, well, traditional as he.
No, while they are at it, they might as well nominate such as Kamala Harris or Liz Warren ( hell, since they cannot but triumph, why not go for Van Jones?).
If they were to make gains in 2018 they would be further emboldened and whenever that happens they always act as if the secular Millenium is close at hand. One could almost hope that they temporarily regain the House, ( at least the House can't block a Supreme Court nominee), assuring as it does the restoration of Madame Speaker and a hilarious cascade of pompous pronunciamentos from her. It would be a telling reminder of what"Democrat" party ascendency always means: another step on the road to totalitarianism. And it would help to advance a second term for our good President. Jack

New York State taxes; where do they go? America beware!
I got into a conversation about NYS taxes with Dr. Nicholas Waddy of SUNY Alfred (check out his blog, Waddyisright.com; he offers perceptive and well supported views of currently important matters). In thinking about that subject afterwards I was reminded of my first view of the NY State Education Building in the imperial capitol, Albany. I sure felt "educated" after seeing that.
Its monolithic mass covers an entire city block; good gravy, I thought I was looking at the Lubyanka Prison in Moscow and, indeed, no doubt many souls have been lost in the Ed. Building too. I would not be surprised to see in it armored bays to accomodate the dump truck loads of state taxpayers' cash consumed by this grotesquely bloated agency daily. Well, the tender intellects of our children must be properly molded according to the principles which dominate the People's Republic of Cuomo and we cannot trust the localities in that, oh heavens no! And that takes Commissars (oops, I mean Commissioners) and 57th Deputy Assistant Facilitators for Esoteric Contretemps in numbers sufficient to to quash insolent dissent. And that takes well furnished rooms, mind you, lots and lots of them.
Sometimes those well meaning people get bored though and they are constrained to search their abundant imaginations for ways to spend taxpayer cash (which surely cannot be trusted to the taxpayers; I mean they will just waste it). When I worked in a public library we were sent one thousand bookmarks advertising the BBC Shakespeare series by the NY State Indoctrination ( dang, Education)Dept. Trouble was, the series had already been shown in its 25 something episode entirety. We put the bookmarks up and the public eagerly snapped up some thirty one of them. Its ok, though; the rest were recycled and no doubt form the paper vessel for the 89th Assistant Factotum of Whatever's weekly report to nowhere. And surely, this was an atypical incident, yes? (Not).
Albany is also graced by the "Albany Mall" of state office buildings, which cost billions when billions were billions, featuring an underground wonderland sheathed in marble and an edifice resembling nothing as much as a giant toilet bowl (I'm not kidding, you should see it). It was created by the prototypical RINO, Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, who cleared entire neighborhoods in the 60's to make way. Rocky always did have that acute sensitivity for prudent expenditure of the taxpayer's money, accustomed as he was to tight personal finances. Rocky thought he would be President someday, as the elect often dream and I think he meant to pursue an aggressive foreign policy, knowing he had a spare national capitol available should DC be nuked. I mean, what leftist in Russia or China would destroy a place as cordial as Albany, NY?
Gov. Cuomo is in the throes of panic. New Federal tax laws have placed his income redistributionist taxes in a most harsh, unwelcome and revealing light. Since we cannot deduct state taxes on our Federal returns anymore they are revealed for the Pharaoh-like demands they are. In vain he searches for a way to skin over the sore. A look at Albany, the physical plant I mean, tells a tale he cannot deny. See what you'd be getting ,America, if you voted for or failed to oppose a Presidential candidate Cuomo?Jack

Limousine Liberal
An eight hour speech on the House Floor from Nancy Pelosi. Eight hours! Well! I wish I held the House coffee franchise; I'd be on my way to Myrtle Beach. I thought that manner of presumptuous chattiness was the province of totalitarian tinhorns like Fidel or Kim Jong Un (in Kim's case of course with frequent timeouts for tasty treats, ehhh, for him only that is). Yes, an 8 hour presentation was delivered during our Constitutional Convention but that was a somewhat different setting. Absent today's media, oratory had a greater role in persuasion then and the participants in that gathering, many of them having recently faced the King's hangman, had arguably more moral authority than the definitive limousine liberal, Nancy herself . This ,folks, is the person the Dems imposed and would again esconce, two steps away from the Presidency; just imagine!
Her touching paean to racial comity in her groovy San Francisco environ rivaled Hillary's "Plantation" speech for patronizing smarminess. And she was serious too. The view from the limousine is all she knows.
Reports that she characterized the benefits taxpayers will derive from the new tax law as "crumbs" are patently false. Rather, she regards taxpayers themselves as crumbs. There is a kind of spacy logic to her reasoning in this: if you pay taxes you must have assets; if you have assets you are by definition simply privileged and well, you aren't Nancy's run of just folks. Barack Obama's father once wrote that it is right that government confiscate 100% of private income, regardless of how it was obtained ( its not earned or deserved of course)and that it be redistributed by benevolent rulers according to "just" principles appreciated only by them. Now that's Nancy's kind of "tax reform", providing of course there is no lien on her holdings. Just so; its par for the course for leftist leaders to demand draconian sacrifice from the "masses" while they enjoy.
You are going to have to do better, in your exile, than Charles and Nancy for leadership, Dems. Luckily Presidential candidacy is at hand; after all its been more than a year since the tragic end of the last marathon. Now the really serious prospective saviors from the Trumpian nightmare will begin to bustle. Why just yesterday we were introduced to the possibility of an Eric Holder crusade, '"fuh crine out loud". Who's next? Babs Streisand? Anthony Weiner? Oh but he's otherwise occupied just now.
Please forward any objections to my obnoxious sarcasm to my role models Samantha Bee and Rachel Maddow, with apologies to Ann Coulter, who I really do treasure. 'Cause if Samantha and Rachel ain't after backing off a notch or two, well I ain't agonna either. Jack

Hey Charles - "Get Over It!"
One of Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer's signature moments in a career characterized by withering contempt for those who doubt his wisdom came after the passage of the monumental Assault Weapons Bill in 1994. You know, the one where Charles and Diane Feinstein got out Gun Digest and blackballed the ones that looked "icky". As we know, that law ended all gun violence in America until it was unforgiveably quashed years later by knuckledraggers insisting that the Second Amendment "lives".
Anyway, Charles was in the House when the bill passed and he took the Floor and bade those who had opposed the bill "Get over it!"with his customary sneer much in evidence. Well, what goes around comes around, Charles.
Get over the fact that you lost in 2016 and will have to live with it; you had much to do with it. Get over your year long hissy fit and think the unthinkable: you are the engineer on the Democrat train to nowhere. Oh I know, we can't retire you; you're empowered by the People's Republic of NY to be a scold to the rest of the nation. You'll continue to play hob with the real America to the best of your considerable ability in that regard but consider this: we know you better and better the more you bustle. It was in reaction to elitist snobs like you that we rose in 2016. You'll be remembered not as one of the great congressional leaders but as a strong argument for term limits. You'll never be Chief Justice and you, along with me at our ages, will never see the confirmation of eventual far left dictatorship in America you yearned for. There is not enough time anymore; 2016 put the quietus to that and the real America has woken and is MOTIVATED. Get over it!
I watched you at the State of the Union address and I've seen before what was written all over you that night. I saw it on Jimmy Carter's countenance as he sat on the inauguration platform with Ronald Reagan and telegraphed his realization that he had been bested, as you have been, by one he loathed. Because I worked in state prisons for decades I've seen it countless times on vindictive criminals when they were denied that, whatever, to which they felt entitled. I've seen it on petulant three year olds though they don't know better. Then again, maybe you don't either. No apology to you for cheap shots like that Charles; you've directed the onslaught of calumny our good President, a human being after all, has courageously endured for two years now. Get over it Charles! He's an hombre, every bit the remorseless hardball player you are.
You will never have the chance you expected to codify and institutionalize "political correctness" in our ever free country, hand in hand with the vindictive Hillary. Get over it! Jack
